At TernaID, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines what data we collect, how it is used, and the measures we take to keep it secure. TernaID powers secure identity verification and interactions through cryptographic and decentralized technologies.

🔐 1. What We Collect

TernaID is designed with privacy and security by default. We only collect data that is essential for secure identification.

We may collect and store the following information, depending on how you onboard into TernaID:
🧾 If You Onboard Using a Digital Wallet (e.g. Apple Wallet or Google Wallet)
When you choose to verify your identity using a digital version of your government-issued driver’s license or ID, we may collect:

  • Full Name

  • Family Name (Surname)

  • Date of Birth

  • Document Number

  • Document Issue Date

  • Document Expiration Date

This information is collected directly from your device, with your explicit consent, and transmitted securely to TernaID for the purpose of identity verification.
🏦 If You Are Onboarded by a Trusted Partner

In some cases, you may be onboarded through a third-party provider (such as a bank or government agency). In that case, we may receive the same identity information listed above, transmitted securely from the provider.
🔐 Public Keys and Device Information

In all cases:

  • A private key is generated on your device. It never leaves your device.

  • The corresponding public key is transmitted to TernaID for registration.

  • We may also collect anonymous technical metadata such as app version and OS version for support and diagnostics.

📷 2. Camera Access

TernaID uses your device's camera solely for:

  • Scanning QR codes that enable secure verification and interactions

✅ No images or videos are stored or transmitted. QR code scanning is handled locally.

🔄 3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data to:

  • Create a verified identity profile within TernaID

  • Register and associate your public key with your verified identity

  • Enable you to present your identity securely to third parties (e.g., login or verification)

  • Comply with legal or regulatory obligations where applicable

  • Improve app reliability (technical logs only, no behavioral tracking)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or resale.

🌐 4. Third-Party Partners

When you use TernaID to identify yourself to a trusted partner, we transmit only the required cryptographic proof and identity data necessary for that verification. This process is end-to-end encrypted.

👶 5. Children’s Privacy

TernaID is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly process data from children.

🗃 6. Data Retention

  • Private keys remain only on your device.

  • Public keys are stored in secure infrastructure.

  • Identity data received from providers is stored securely only as long as necessary to maintain cryptographic identity bindings.

You may request:

  • Access to your registered public key

  • Information about any identity data stored

  • Revocation of your public key or identity bindings (if applicable)

  • Please contact us via the information below to submit such a request.

We implement industry-standard and advanced security, including:

  • TLS 1.3 encryption

  • End-to-end cryptographic identity verification

  • Secure partner authentication via mTLS

  • All sensitive data is stored encrypted
